Description

I didn't go for a transparent background this time because I figured since this was Giygas we're talking about he deserved a black background regardless of which form he is.

Giygas as I think he appears in the original Mother, AKA Earthbound Zero. We all know who Giygas is. He's the evil power that is essentially an abomination beyond all reason, and by far the scariest Nintendo villain to exist, especially when you consider how he was designed in the behind the scenes department. Though, my question is, what did any of this have to do with Giygas's ORIGINAL form, which is the one pictured here? Now mind you this might not be the exact appearance of it, because all we get for reference is an EXTREMELY small sprite with barely any detail to it to define what Giygas's original form looked like.

Few things I want to discuss here. The whole "Aborting Fetus" Theory for Earthbound cannot possibly occur BECAUSE of this form to begin with, and it's specifically said in Earthbound that his mind AND body was destroyed when he become his demonic self. Since this is the case, Giygas would've HAD to have been in this form already prior to becoming his more famous form in Earthbound. Besides, I don't think essentially aborting a Fetus was what was in mind as was Sheer Nightmare Fuel being the main theme of the final battle. Believe me, Giygas in Earthbound is designed solely to scare and traumatize younger players, and thankfully, I was never effected by this in the past, so anything Giygas had to offer in terms of scares was rendered void after a few listenings to his famous battle music.

Another thing I'd like to discuss: Apparently some of the people who worked on Mother 1 ALSO worked on Pokemon Red and Green. However, when I looked into this, I found only two people who did such a thing; Pokemon Red and Green and Mother 1 had the same Executive Producter; Hiroshi Yamauchi, as well as Shigeru Miyamoto working on both games in one way or another (Mother 1 as Producer, and Pokemon Red and Green as Debug Player). Other than that, neither game really had much connection unless for some odd reason one of those two suggested to use Giygas in parts of the design of Mewtwo, who is most commonly compared to Giygas's original form, though I see no resemblance even in my own design. Mewtwo was bulky in appearance, and muscular at that, meaning it was powerful in nearly every way imaginable in addition to it's Special moves. Giygas's original form, on the other hand, was skinny beyond all reason, and appeared to have much longer ears and was entirely a white or grey color. So, what's the resemblence? Pretty much none except for their Psychic abilities.

Now then, as to the pic itself. It was mostly an uplift of what details I could gather from the sprite, specifically the very skinny frame, and the long ears. As for anything else, I kept it mainly simple except for demonic eyes, that are actually just an illusion for when they do not glow, nothing is there and it just leaves blank voids of darkness where his eyes would be. This is meant to be Giygas prior to becoming the embodiment of evil, as his eyes are just the beginning of the transition. As for the shading, it's the same I did with the last two pics, just that instead of grey, I used a light blue for the lighter parts, and a dark red for the darker parts.

Also one last thing I never understood. Each of the main villains in the Mother Trilogy had attacks that their true forms could not be identified. I don't personally believe the attacks couldn't be identified, I think it's just saying that to let you know those Shields you can cast to block Physical or PK attacks would not work even if you have both of them set up. It's as simple as that, and also the fact it can give Giygas the ability to take you by surprise by using multiple different attacks with no way to identify them until they hit you for massive damage.
